Working with thumbnails

It’s not always a good idea to rush into a painting without doing a little preliminary work first. I enjoy doing small thumbnails to help me decide on colour and composition. Here are a few of a view I like on the Preselis.

I did two small watercolours and was quite taken with the cotton grass. The hill behind is quite detailed. I think I would like to see it more like the fourth thumbnail with a wet into wet treatment so will have another go.

  1. Thank you Wendy. Excellent idea. I have just had a very interesting two days in Pembrokeshire going around some of the Art Galleries. I was very impressed with the one in Porthgain.
