I ran two Saturday morning workshops at Gelli Aur recently. Everyone said they enjoyed them and I certainly did. It was nice to meet new people and catch up with returners.
For the first one we worked from a reference of mine….a tree in Dinefwr park with flowers.
This involved tackling greens and painting trunks and foliage. We looked at the use of masking fluid when painting the foreground flowers….this kept the colours clean and helped the flowers to stand out from the grasses.
For the second we worked from a reference by J Garcia from an excellent book “Mastering the watercolour wash” …I think we did to some extent. We also looked into ways of painting convincing reflections and painting rocks with cut up credit cards!
