Sketching in Dinefwr Park

A few of us got together today to walk and sketch at the National Trusts Dinefwr Park in Llandeilo. Thank you Marie for setting us up well with coffee and cake!  It was a lovely sunny day and as usual the park was stunning. Today the trees were in full summer foliage which meant lots of greens to paint which can pose problems. I like to mix greens from prussian blue, yellows and earth colours. I sometimes use ultramarine as the blue also. Lots of august flowers and I noticed the hog weed  was full of bees….then we saw that the trust has several hives there which might explain it. Or they could have been my lot on a day out….. I read that bees forage up to three miles so well in range.

It’s nice to get input on ideas.

Hard at work

And me.

Trying to capture the light tree against a darker background was the aim.

Again light against dark to define the tree shapes.
