Short break in Pembrokeshire, March 2011

We took advantage of a special offer with ‘Coastal Cottages’ and spent a few days in a lovely  comfortable cottage in Pwll Gwaelod, North Pembs at the beginning of March. We had three days of sunshine which was wonderful! The coastal path around this region is stunning and it is also a good base to explore anywhere in the county.

I particularly enjoyed a mile and a half walk along the coastal path from Pwll Gwaelod west towards Fishguard where I did some sketching and took lots of photographs.  The estuary at Newport is another favourite spot of ours- especially at sunset. I did some sketching there and worked on a picture in oils from the sketch and a digital photograph. Saw lots of birds ( noted in my birding diary) and spotted an otter at 9.00am swimming across the bay at Pwll Gwaelod. It was all so inspiring and I hope to paint some pictures from the reference material I collected.

One day- not the sunniest -we drove up to Mwnt and Llangrannog. We were hoping to see choughs but were disappointed.
