Painting autumn trees…workshop September 29th

We had a go at autumn colours and painting foliage in a loose ‘blocky’ way. The foliage was painted first and then the trunks and branches were put in. It involved quite a bit of negative painting which was a bit taxing for some of us 🙂  I did two demo paintings one of which was built up more than the first but still kept fairly loose. One or two pictures were not finished…we spent a fair amount of time working in charcoal first to work out individual compositions from our reference material. As always a great morning and we all learnt alot and I hope to see some smashing homework pictures.
