Birding at Kidwelly Quay

One of my favourite places- we spent just about an hour walking here this Sunday afternoon. There wasn’t alot of activity and fewer birds than we normally see but I managed a pretty respectable species list: goldfinch, longtailed tit, bluetit, goldcrest, magpie, crow, thrush ,blackbird, robin, dunnock, little grebe, mallard, cormarant, teal, swan, wren, bartailed godwit, seagull, curlew, red shank and a flock of 12+ greenshank- the most I have ever seen there on the estuary. I make that 21.

The canal and reed beds. I have seen reed warblers there in the spring.

Across the marshes

Cormorant- lovely colouring

Bar tailed godwit - had some input on this ID from a man with a scope.

Gold crest- so hard to get a good photo!
