A visit to Skomer Island

This Sunday a group of us from Dinefwr Photographic Society managed to get over to Skomer. I say managed because Saturday the boat didn’t sail due to windy conditions  and when we left Llandeilo at 7.00 am on Sunday morning there was no guarantee we would get across to the island. We were lucky- the trip across was a bit rough and we did have some wind and rain during the day. On the whole though the weather was Ok and Skomer was gloroius- carpeted with bluebells. One disappointment was not seeing the little owls that are usually perched on the stone walls or in rocky crevices- perhaps we just didn’t look hard enough.  Species count: lots of gulls including great black backed,  kittiwakes, oystercatcher, pied wagtail, pipits, jackdaw, swallow, whitethroat, sedge warbler, razorbill, guillemots and of course puffins.
